English term

ID(Identificfation)

English to Chinese Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)

This term is used in Taiwan. It could mean just the card (not the number on it), such as "Please show your ID." If you need the number, you could say: "Your ID number please." And it could mean a civilian or a soldier's ID. When necessary you can add "military" "GI" or other modifiers.

Also, "Zhengjian 證件"means a lot more than mere ID. With proper documentation/authroization/ [papers that prove something] one can do a lot of things without identifying one self.

Thank you, Lance, being very kind to help and explain how this word is used in traditional Chinese. Thank you!
