English term

to struggle with issues of commitment and trust

Non-PRO English Social Sciences Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc.
Hello! We're still talking about these developmental stage which a group goes through. During the so-called norming stage, the third one, behaviors evolve into a sharing of information, acceptance of different options, and positiver attempts to make decisions that may require compromise During this stage, many team members continue to struggle with issues of commitment and trust. It is believed that this adversely impacts their effectiveness in the next stage (the performing stage).
What does "to continue to struggle with issues of commitment and trust" exactly means?
Thx! :-)
Change log

Feb 6, 2008 14:06: changed "Kudoz queue" from "In queue" to "Public"

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

PRO (1): Carol Gullidge

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

have problems with committing themselves and trusting others

At this stage in forming the group, some of the members have still not become used to giving 100% commitment to others/the group, and also find it hard to trust other people whom they still don't know all that well

to struggle with something means to find it difficult to do it. In this case, it's a concept that they find it hard to come to terms with...
