key market segments

English to French Marketing Marketing
Responsabilities of a Sales manager:

- Work with staff to identify top accounts, target skill sets, *key market segments*, and assess clients’ staffing requirements;

I'm having trouble seeing key as a verb in that sentence, but as a noun it doesn't fit well in the enumeration. Is it simply to key the segments as in type them?

That's what I thought too, but since there is no "and" suggesting that key market segments is part of a smaller enumeration I wasn't sure. So I have to guess whether it goes with Identify or Target. I'll go with target, seems to make more sense. Thank you.

sheila, i think you are right: it has to be either 'identify' or 'target' key market segments and i think that in this case it is more likely to be 'target key market segments'

I think you are reading it wrongly - I see it as 1. identify top accounts, 2. identify skill sets, 3. identify key market segments, 4. assess clients' staffing requirements. Does that help?
