Value class - Since this refers to the fees and rates applicable as per the size of the sum insured, I wonder if the sum insured is categorised by size (in this case the lawyer(s)' income.). Value class may indeed be correct. Hope this helps.

This type of insurance I have seen referred to as Solicitors PI (Professional Indemnity). Google it and you will find a whole range of underwriters and brokers offering solicitors' services. There used to be a central (government / industry I think) fund

@Simon It's a third party liability insurance for lawyers against any financial loss that might ensue from malpractice - in German: Vermoegensschaden-Haftpflichtversicherung. If you've got a good term for this kind of insurance it would help me, too; as I see it I don't think this kind of insurance is offered separately in any English-speaking country, but only as a package of professional indemnity/malpractice insurances.

I worked in the insurance industry six years and never came across value class. Is this a personal or commercial policy? What is being insured?
