Henry, I know what you are saying. I'm translating a whole book and this quote happened to be in it. I thought maybe someone might enjoy translating it, but its only 60 words and I didn't think it was worth putting out as a job. But I can do that, of course. Henry, he's only asking for the "tragarse la moneda" part.
Ronnie, the writer is trying to explain that the cacao bean (being food and money), could only be used by wealthy people, thus the image he uses, it's like throwing money to the sewer

At this time cacao beans were used as money - I think that is what it is referring to with "tragarse la moneda"
