English term (edited):
seething
Selected
fervente, efervescente, em ebulição
Deve ser um typo, e a palavra é "seething", do verbo "to seethe", que o Webster's assim define:
seethe (set) seethed, seething
vt.
1 to cook by boiling
2 to soak, steep, or saturate in liquid
vi.
1 to boil or to surge, bubble, or foam as if boiling
2 to be violently agitated or disturbed
n.
the act or condition of seething
SYN. boil1
Etymology
[ME sethen < OE seothan, akin to Ger sieden < IE base *sew-, to cook, boil > Sans havayan, (they) stew]
(C)1995 Zane Publishing, Inc. (C)1994, 1991, 1988 Simon & Schuster, Inc.
A frase ficaria, então: "...pelo fato de que era um tĕhôm, uma massa aquosa efervescente envolta na escuridão."

Mainn
: Seething makes sense since tehom is Hebrew for water in an agited/turbulent state. Not sheathing.
