Swedish term

prisbild

Swedish to English Bus/Financial Finance (general) share issue prospectus
This is in a heading under the 'risk factors' section.
Heading: Prisbild och produktion
Relevant sentence in paragraph: XX levererar produkter och tjänster som på sina respektive marknader i huvudsak är utbytbara mot konkurrenternas erbjudanden. Detta leder till en *prissättning* som är starkt styrd av utbud och eferfrågan.
My question is really: do you think that 'prisbild' is a shortened form of 'prissättning', or could it mean 'an overall idea/picture of prices'?
Opinions appreciated.

I realise that 'prissättning' refers to the process of pricing, which is why I was wondering what specific meaning 'prisbild' had.

Prisbild is often translated as prices or approximate prices
Prissättning, on the other hand, refers to the actual process of setting prices...in other words...PRICING

market prices

I think Larry's suggestion is good. I offer this a an alternative, to capture the feeling that their prices are outside their control, and subject to the whims of market supply and demand.

Reply: what specific meaning 'prisbild' had.

AFAIK, prisbild does nt have an exact English equivalent. "Prisbildning" is given by Gullberg as "price-detemining factors" so I think prisbild means roughly "the situation with regard to setting prices". You may find that a bit long, so I suggest "market prices" to convey a bit of that flavour - that prices are set by the market, not the company.
