I wondering if by "in viaggio" they mean "being processed" or "still not received"

It takes a few days sometimes until the money transferred from one bank gets into another bank (it depends on the country's clearing system). Usually when a client through a money order wants to transfer money to his suppplier's account, for example, the money is withdrawn immediately from his account, but it remains in the bank's account until the clearance center permorms the clearing operation and thus transfers the money to the beneficiary's bank. That is why sent bank transfers might not be registered yet with the bank that received them.
