Agropastoralisten können sesshaft, in Transhumanz oder nomadisch leben. Sesshaftigkeit ergibt sich durch eine bodenfesten Behausung, die das Jahr über genutzt wird. Es werden keine mehrtägigen Wanderungen zur Futtersuche wie etwa beim Nomadismus durchgeführt. Agropastoralismus ist eine Form des Halbnomadismus.
