Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Hipyan Nopri Nov 20, 2006:
Hadiyono Jaqin (asker) Nov 19, 2006:
dry sendiri kalau tidak salah tidak manis, not sweet because of decomposition of sugar during fermentation. Martini ekstra tawar?

extra dry martini

Seyogyanya tidak usah diterjemahkan. Saya belum pernah dengar orang di restoran, bar maupun cafe mengorder martini ekstra sepet (dry itu bukan berarti kering)

disagree Regi2006 : Kering here in this context does not necessarily mean 'kering' as opposed to 'basah'. Such as : tubuhnya kering oleh batuk, data-data kering, jabatan kering, saya kering saat ini, novelnya yang baru itu kering (courtesy: Alan M. Stevens' dictionary)

Agree with you that kering is not necessarily the opp of basah. If you are a wine drinker, dry is the opposite of sweet, and usually semakin dry rasanya semakin "sepet". Back to the original question, I would not translate "extra dry martini"

Yes, I agree with you... it's martini ekstra kering

Yes, dry in alchohol depends on the sugar content. Evaporation of the sugar content makes it dry.

Right, in alcohol in general, DRY is a lack of sweetness (sugar)...

Peer comment(s):

Terima kasih Rich atas uraiannya.

martini extra dry

perhaps we can use 'Martini Extra Dry'. Here, martini is the noun, which is explained by 'extra dry'.

Other option? Saya setuju dengan pak Eddie.

martini hambar pisan

Peer comment(s):

neutral Hipyan Nopri : Kalau ada kata 'sangat' kenapa pakai 'pisan' Rich.:) Nanti saya juga usulkan 'sangaik' he3

martini super sepat
