Men, conditioned from childhood into the 'mine is bigger than yours' syndrome, were the advertisers' first target with injunctions to unleash the wild, explore the freedom and other such ad-spiel.

Please explain the above sentence from "injunction...

I am also reproducing hereinbelow the preceding sentences for your reference:

Big cars are the rage and the man is just being tonier than the next guy.

Gone are the days when personal vehicles were bought for the purpose of commuting — nowadays they are just one big ego trip.
