While Kim's answer for "zu Buche stehen" is correct, the fact that this is from a criminal confession just made me think that the expression might be misused for the similar sounding "in jemandes Buch stehen", which means "to be in someone's debt".

It sounds very much like the person actually is in someone's debt. I don't know though how to combine the amount with "being in debt".
