According to the ATC classification, XXX syrup has code XXX. XXX syrup as an active component contains carbocysteine, a mucolytic that changes the structure of mucus by blocking sulfhydryl groups and in that manner reduces the viscosity of bronchial secretion and the amount of mucus, facilitates expectorating and reduces the frequency of cough by helping at breathing.
It reduces hyperplasia and hypertrophy of mucosecretory zone and also acts locally, * antiphlogistically *.
