Ich bin mittlerweile zu dem Schluss gekommen, dass RSVP in den verschiedenen Kontexten die Bedeutungen "Bitte reservieren Sie Ihren Platz", "reservieren" und "Reservierung" hat. Wie kann ich dir denn jetzt deine Punkte zukommen lassen? Gib doch deinen Kommentar als Antwort an.

I agree that it is unusal usage in this context, unless these are "by invitation only" seminars. I think it would be wise to take into account that the person using this expression does not know what the French stands for.

Dann würde es für mich etwas Sinn ergeben: Reserver votre place. Mit anderen Worten, hier wird ein Kurs, ein Workshop oder eine Schulung reserviert. RSVP könnte das benötigte Programm oder Ähnliches sein.

also rsvp steht normal bei Einladungen drauf (steht für répondez s'il vous plaît - um Antwort wird gebeten) - d.h. man soll mitteilen, ob man zur party, etc. kommen kann
im technischen kontext hab ich es noch nie gesehen, da es sich aber um eine seminaranmeldung handelt könnte es irgenwie mit der anmeldung zusammenhängen - evtl. sowas wie Reservierung/Vorreservierung?

This is the usual equivalent German expression as far as I know (see dict.cc and dict.leo.org for example). I put low confidence as I am not sure how well this fits in the context - hopefully a native speaker will provide some feedback on that.

I had the same thought: I wasn't worried about the questioner deciding it didn't fit, but it did seem rather odd for the reason you gave.
