Vedi ad esempio: Historical Mechanisms for Loss of Antigen-Antibody Binding Several potential mechanisms may account for past failures of antibody therapy to eliminate tumor cells. A gene mutation or modulation of the protein product can cause a target antigen to be unrecognizable by the antibody.(4) An example of modulation includes "shedding" of the antigen from the cell surface.(4) The occurrence of multiple tumor clones in a single patient has also been observed; the targeted antigen may not be expressed by all of a given patient's malignant cells. Only cells containing the targeted antigen will be cleared.(4) |
