Dutch term

Adoptierelaties

Dutch to English Social Sciences Education / Pedagogy
The context:
"There are 'adoptive relations' with businesses and schools for further education (universities).
The school plan describes which relations there are with external organisations such as businesses, schools for further education etc."

Can I use 'adoptive relations' in this context or do you have a better suggestion?

Thanks

Discussion

Rene Paes (X) (asker) Feb 26, 2006:

The purpose of these relations are to broaden, challenge education for gifted and talented pupils.

'Partnerships' seems quite good.
writeaway Feb 25, 2006:
Can you please provide the sentence in Dutch. It's more helpful to see the original text than to see the isolated Dutch word with a sentence in English. TIA.

sponsorship relations

In my opinion, this would be a more suitable term. 'Adoption relations' or 'relationships' would be more applicable for an orphanage than a school, I think ;-)

neutral Tina Vonhof (X) : Usually sponsorship implies financial assistance, which is not clearly stated in the text.

Yes, on seconds thoughts -- and considering the further Dutch context -- I think sponsorship is not the right term here. Writeaway was quite right in asking it right away ;-)
