Many decision-makers of large organizations have a vision of their organization that is limited by what goes on internally within their organization. They are unable to appreciate how external factors limit or influence their organization. This is a trap and the outside-in management technique is designed to help senior managers to get a feel of how their organization is placed viz-a-viz the outside environment.
Several techniques are used for this, one of which is to bring together all the stakeholders of the organization and try to understand what they feel about the organization.
