contrasting the two types of language Explanation: I think that this compares the two different kinds of communications-- the *intricate* (detailed, thorough, exact, concrete) language of engineering to the more abstract, notional language used in marketing and advertising. In engineering, the focus is on the manufacturing or production of the item, whereas the marketing language brings up the monetary value to the product or project, hence the reference to 'dollars-and-cents'. |
