French term

interlocuteurs

French to English Bus/Financial Finance (general) Audit Committee
I know there are many ways to translate this, but I was hoping you could help me decide which is best in this context (representatives perhaps?). This is from a document explaining the role of an Audit Committee within a Board of Directors:

J’étais très satisfait de constater que j’ai des interlocuteurs à la Direction Financière, comme d’ailleurs dans les autres Directions essentielles, juridique et comptable, des interlocuteurs d’une très grande transparence et qui ont l’habitude de travailler avec un Comité d’Audit ; d’ailleurs certains, même beaucoup d’entre eux, viennent d’entreprises du secteur privé...

Thanks in advance!

(personal) contacts

Contacts is quite a common solution to the "interlocuteur" problem - in this case, it sounds like the person is trying to play up this aspect, so perhaps the addition of personal might help emphasise this point.

agree Jane Lamb-Ruiz (X) : of course

Thanks
neutral Richard Hedger : contacts would have been my first reaction but I feel this is more about the fact the auditor has transparent and helpful communication = necessary for an audit of any value.

I read it as the auditor saying that he already knew these people at some level, which was an advantage, as you say, in terms of communication, given that auditors are meant to be independent & would often be coming in "cold". He wasn't.
agree Sara Freitas : Don't think he needs to know them beforehand...if an auditor does not have good "contacts" his job would be pretty difficult. I'd leave out "personal" and just go with "contacts"

I probably would too, to be honest...

agree Steve Melling : As far as one-word translations go, this is the best IMO.

This is referring to an auditor's experience with the financial, legal and accounting departments, saying that they provide helpful and transparent communication, in the course of his audit.
Peer comment(s):

neutral CMJ_Trans (X) : with whom I can talk with..... surely not?
35 mins
why not? I use the term "interlocuteur" in my work situation all the time to mean this.
neutral Charlie Bavington : I suspect CMJ is drawing attention to the apparent surfeit of "withs".....

This is also used in English and can be a possible solution, although it depends on the register of your target text and your target audience. A voir !
