Explanation:
The massive erosion of the southern points in the late 60's and early 70's was a direct result of the extension of the Tweed River training walls, which cut off the direct supply of sand to Snapper Rocks

This seasonal condition establishes a scouring effect, whereby the southern points are eroded of sand and scalloped into bays. From February -July the southerly winds become entrenched, and combined with the predominant south-easterly swell, great volumes of sand are transported north.

The sand pumping goes from a trickle in January to a torrent in Feb, and for 5 weeks leading up to the commencement of competition on March 1, sand is delivered to Snapper via the East Snapper outlet, compacting the bank and, combined with Easterly and South Easterly seasonal swells, groom the bank to perfection.

agree  chaplin: bien le relâché ne me satisfait pas entièrement j'opterais pour rejeté ou déversé. c'est ce qu'on est obligé de faire à la Baule depui la construction de cette f.. marina de Pornichet tout le sable fiche le camp....comme prévu

Explanation:
En fait ce qui me gène c'est le "pumped out into the ocean". En lisant la phrase en anglais, j'ai davantage l'impression que le sable est ramassé sur la plage puis déversé ou rejeté dans l'océan ou il est nettoyé/brassé/mélangé avant d'envahir à nouveau la plage grâce au mouvement naturel des marées. Ça permet d'avoir constamment du sable "frais".
C'est juste une idée, je ne suis ni ingénieur ni spécialiste des plages ;-)
