I used to work in WordFast and SDLX, but I only use Trados these days. I don't believe it's necessary to work in multiple CAT tools unless one works in localization or some other part of the translation sector with similar needs, where the CAT is really necessary and not just a gratuitous display of technology or superficial justification of a fuzzy discount grid.

Things I translate might as well arrive in normal .doc or even pure .txt, hence I use Trados for my own convenience (tabular layout rather than memory), which is none of the client's business except maybe that a client might wish to keep a memory updated or prefer a CAT to be used on account of increased consistency.

But no tech frenzy, nope. We are translators, not CAT operators.
