GNOME 46 (code-named “Kathmandu”) has been released. Some notable changes include:

  • A new dynamic progress indicator in GNOME Files
  • Support for Microsoft OneDrive in GNOME Online Accounts
  • Signing in now uses the default web browser in GNOME Online Accounts, which allows a wider range of authentication methods to be used, e.g., USB tokens
  • A new dedicated remote login option in GNOME Settings
  • Preferences for Region & Language, Date & Time, Users, Remote Desktop, Secure Shell, and About are now consolidated into one section in GNOME Settings
  • Improvements to Orca screen reader
  • Improvements to notification layouts
  • Tap to click is now enabled by default
  • Verified badges for Flathub apps in GNOME Software
  • Variable refresh rates (VRR) is now included as an experimental feature
