So I just hooked up Deja Vu X3 to Google Translate and I put the API key in the File->Options->Machine Translation->Google. I assumed this would make MT available in any project if I demanded Deja VU to machine translate (control-G). It doesn't work. MT does work when I put the same API key in a specific project under Project->Properties->Machine Translation. MT does work when I put the same API key in a specific project under Project->Properties->Machine Translation. When I advance to the next cell, a machine translation is fetched automatically, but I don't want automatic MT...for this project I just want MT when I press control-G. Is this a bug? Since there are two places where one can put the API key (global area and project-specific properties), it strikes me that if you want auto-MT, then you'd set the project property. And if you want to do it on demand, then leave the project property blank. Am I just doing it wrong? ▲ Collapse | | | Selcuk Akyuz Türkiye Local time: 22:20 English to Turkish + ... see under Options | Jan 30, 2015 |
Hi Michael, File > Options > General AutoSearch Options Unmark: Show Machine Translation results for whole segments Then Ctrl+G will work as intended | | | Endre Both Germany Local time: 21:20 English to German MT providers need to be set in every project | Jan 31, 2015 |

To use MT (automatically or on demand), the appropriate provider needs to be set in every project you want to use it in. You can save project templates which should store MT settings as well so you don't have to set it in every new project. The only reason for saving an API key in global settings would be to save you from typing the key for every project. After saving a provider globally, if you select it in a project, the key is inserted automatically, you just have to confirm. To deactivate automatic MT searches, follow Selcuk's instructions. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » How to machine translate, but only on demand?
