Ao Yun means “flying above the clouds” or “roaming above the clouds”. Our name refers to the thick, wandering clouds of this incredible region and celebrates the birthplace of the legend of Shangri-La. We journeyed to find this place, but in a sense, the place found us. We are blessed with a climate similar to Bordeaux, tinged with a high-mountain identity: similar maximum temperatures, lower night temperatures and higher UV values, culminating in a drier end season. With strong sunlight, mild winters and low disease risk caused by summer rain, this is without doubt the ideal terroir for unparalleled Cabernet Sauvignon. Our vineyards are situated in North Yunnan, at the edge of the Himalayas and just below the sacred Meili Mountain that culminates at 6’740m. Everything we do here is organic and “cousu main”. Our blocks are very small and all of our vineyard processes are conducted meticulously by hand
AO YUN PRODUCT
Ao Yun 2013 is an exceptional red wine produced on the foothill of the Himalayas from the high-altitude vines varying from 2’200 to 2’600 meters. Our climate is similar to Bordeaux. All viticulture processes are done entirely by hand and organically. Ao Yun 2013 is made of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. Rated 94 points, Decanter describes it as “Seven of the finest wines Bordeaux red blends around the world”. On the nose, Jancis Robinson says "It has a certain spiciness and the aroma of the Cabernet Franc, with the inevitable Cabernet Sauvignon makes its presence felt on the persistent finish, but the nose is decidedly sumptuous”. On the palate, James Suckling says "Aromas of blackberry, blueberry and olives. Hints of bark and mushroom. Currants. Minerally and very fine. Beautiful structure and depth. This is a wine that really impresses with all the finesse and quality of tannins”.

Semester 2: ELICOS – English for Academic Purposes 3 (EAP 3)
The Program will be jointly taught by VU teachers, ‘teachers recruited by VU and employed by CUFE’ (‘VU recruited teachers’) and CUFE English teachers.
VU teachers and VU recruited teachers will each teach full time on the program which is calculated as 6 sessions x 50 minute per week or 90 sessions per 15 week academic semester.

It’s important to weigh up your options, including thinking about the subjects you like and are good at, when considering what to study in Year 11 and 12.
One of the benefits of studying the VCE is that it offers you a lot of flexibility in choosing your subjects. Apart from having to successfully complete a number of English-group units, there are no ‘compulsory’ subjects.
For example you could choose to study all maths-science subjects and English Language or all arts-humanities subjects and Literature. You can choose to study a subject as a Unit 1 or 2 study, but not continue that subject for Unit 3 and 4.
You can also choose to study some subjects as a Unit 3 and 4 study without having studied that subject at Unit 1 and 2 level. There are a lot of options to build your course over the two or three years to suit you.
Another thing to keep in mind is that if you begin the VCE, you cannot transfer to the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB). If you start Year 11 in the IB program, however, you can still swap to the VCE as late as the end of Year 11.
