English to Romanian: European Care Certificate Training Pack General field: Other Detailed field: Education / Pedagogy
Source text - English European Care Certificate
Trainer’s Manual
Welcome to this European Care Certificate (ECC) Trainer’s Manual. This training pack covers all of the Basic European Social Care Learning Outcomes (BESCLO), these are designed for workers starting their employment in adult social care. There are eight standards, which cover:
1. The values of social care
2. Promote life quality for the individuals you support
3. Working with risk
4. Understand your role as a support worker
5. Safety at work
6. Communicating positively
7. Recognise and respond to abuse and neglect
8. Develop as a worker
This training pack has been written and designed in clear and plain language and in an easy to use format. It includes:
• Lesson Plans/timetables
• Equipment required
• Clear trainer’s guidance with glossary
• Handouts
• Slides
The pack is designed to take the learners through the eight standards building on the learner’s knowledge and understanding as they go through the materials. There are activities/exercises, scenarios, group work, working in pairs and individual work all designed to help the learner relate what they are learning back to their workplace and their own experiences. The pack is also designed to ensure the differing learning styles of the variety of learners is covered thus giving all learners the opportunity to progress and learn as they move through this training programme.
When using this pack the learners will need to be aware of the need for access to their employer’s ‘ways of working’ (sometimes known as policies and procedures) regarding all of the areas covered in the standards.
Remember: Your learners will be new to health and social care, as such they will be on a steep learning curve, so be patient and supportive so that you can get the best out of them and they the best out of you
How to use this pack
Each session has detailed trainers’ guidance or notes, PowerPoint slides and accompanying handouts and activity sheets that can be photocopied. The pack gives the trainer all the information needed to run the sessions to cover the 8 BESCLO Areas.
The guidance and activities cover all of the knowledge to ensure that each BESCLO area is covered in detail. However the trainer can add in their own examples, activities or anecdotal stories etc that will enhance the learning experience for the students and consolidate their understanding.
It is recommended that the group of learners does not exceed 15, as the discussion/feedback would then be likely to take more than the allocated time(timings have been calculated on an average group size of 12 to 15 people). A group of less than four people may restrict discussion and interaction. It is of course possible for trainers to adjust programme timings to cater for smaller or larger groups. There may also be some specific examples that the trainer may wish to use that are appropriate for the setting or workplace of those on the course; these can be used however the trainer must ensure that all of the Learning Outcomes of the BESCLO are covered.
Remind the learners regularly of the need to refer to their employer’s ‘ways of working’ (often known as policies and procedures), at the end of each session remind them of what they need for the next session.
Encourage the learners to recap over the handouts and what they have learned when they are back in their workplace.
Many of the sessions could serve as useful training updates for existing staff too.
Equipment needed to deliver this course
In order to deliver this training pack there will be some equipment required along with some preparation for activities such as photocopying, cutting out cards, etc. The equipment that is recommended is:
• Flip chart and marker pens
• PowerPoint/OHP
• “Post-it” notes
• Large paper, i.e. A3 for handouts to be cut into slips or strips prior to the training day.
Assessment
Whilst you are delivering the training as a trainer you will need to use your skills to constantly assess whether the individuals understand the areas covered. You will be able to do this through observation of activities being completed and through questions and answers as you move through each section of the training.
Remember that you can use examples/scenarios etc from your own experience to support the individuals in their learning. Examples from your sector and your country will help the individuals to understand more clearly.
When the learners have completed this training, they will have the knowledge and understanding to go on to complete the ECC exam. You will have to make arrangements prior to the start of your training about your learners taking the exam.
The exam can is available in two formats these are:
• Online exam
• Written exam
To arrange for the exam, in either format, you will contact your Delivery Partner who will be able to support you to organise for the exam to be taken at the end of the training.
Remember the exam is a multi-choice exam and it must be completed in exam conditions, it is essential that you remind your learners about ensuring that they not only participate in the training sessions but that they also read all of the handouts carefully and complete any of the additional activities that are included in the pack.
It is a combination of the delivered learning, completing activities and exercises on the course, and in their own time, reading all the handouts carefully, checking for their organisation’s ‘ways of working’ (often known as policies and procedures) and speaking to their manager or colleagues that ensures the learner has gained all of the knowledge and understanding to complete their ECC exam successfully.
Translation - Romanian Manualul instructorului pentru Certificatul European de Îngrijire
Echipamentul recomandat:
• Un flip chart şi carioca tip marker
• PowerPoint/OHP
• Etichete post it

COVASNA THE HEART RESORT
City illustration– Title – THE HEART RESORT
It is called The Heart Resort because Covasna health spa attracts thousands of heart ailing persons that miraculously recover. It is one of the few places from Eastern Europe that combines perfectly the sub-alpine climate - as the health resort is situated at 550 m altitude - with hundreds of mineral carbonated springs that have excellent curative properties, fresh ionized air, abundant in negative ions that have a unruffled, serene and sedative, but still exciting effect upon the human body. Covasna, The Heart Resort, cures serious illnesses, but attends the soul too....
Illustration
Covasna is an old location in the Carpathian bend. Attested in 1548, the community developed especially after the secklers frontier guards settled here in the middle of the XVIII Century. The healing power of the mineral waters were known since ancientness. The Hungarian scholar Hanko Vilmos believed that it was the most rich territory in carbonated springs from Europe. The intensive exploitation of the curative waters begun a hundred years later when little health stations were disposed in the local rezident’s houses. And the bottled mineral waters became well-known in all Transilvania. In the 60’s, after Covasna was declared a national interest resort in Romania, the most important cardiac hospital from the country was built here. Also the infrastructure was modernized. Nowadays, in Covasna, there are hundreds of hotels and motels. The ideal relaxation place for patients but also for healty persons. A large palette of modern treatment and pleasure resorts.

I am dedicated to my work. For the past 10 years I have been working in media, translating, following and sustaining seminars about journalism, social issues and linguistics. Everything to understand better the human relations, needs and cares. That is why translations are part of my life: I GET TO LEARN MORE. I developed an easy and polished style (maybe it is due to my press career - reporter and TV host), I focus on contexts and I research every paper I translate - the motif is simple: insignificant details can make a change and add value.
