Persian (Farsi) to English: The Impact of Psychological Traits on Car-Insurance Customers’ Switching Behaviors Following Service Failures General field: Bus/Financial Detailed field: Insurance
Translation - English The basis of the present study is the fact that a group of customers are potentially willing to switch their consumption pattern and the attempt at keeping them involves non-refundable expenses for companies, especially in cases such as car insurances in insurance companies in which loss rates are high and service failures are to be expected. The model examined in this study measures the impact of two psychological traits of customers, namely locus-of-control orientation and emotional intelligence, on the customers’ willingness to switch after experiencing service failure. The statistical population of this study consists in the customers of car insurances of one of Tehran’s insurance companies who had claimed for losses on their insurances. The researchers went to those centers of the company that were in charge of paying insurance, distributed some questionnaires, and finally collected 196 of the questionnaires. The results obtained from the statistical data analysis demonstrated that those customers with external locus-of-control orientation and high emotional intelligence are less willing to switch to another insurance company, in comparison with those customers who have internal locus-of-control orientation. Furthermore, service failures can influence the relation between the psychological traits and the customers’ willingness to switch.

(Beasley, Kallail, Walling, Davis & Hudson,2001; Richardson and Norris, 1997).
(Emami, Aghdasi, Asousheh, 2009; Reid,Robin, & Tsiouris, 2012).
(Faghihi, Khankeh, Hosseini, Soltani Arabshahi, Faghih, & Shirazi, 2017).
(Mirzaei, Mehrparvar, Bahaloo, Davari, & Owlia, 2012).
(Mironov, Ciolan, & Borzea,2012 ).
Translation - English Explaining the Viewpoints of the Faculty Members of Gilan University of Medical Sciences on Continuous Education Webinars: A Qualitative Study
Introduction
With the spread of information technologies and the advent of the Internet, education has undergone changes. With the advancement of technology, online learning has also increased (1). Webinar is a synchronous online education method in which, people gather at a specific time to listen to, observe, and participate in the presentation of a topic. The term 'webinar' which was proposed by Eric R. Kolb in 1998, is a blend of the words ‘web’ and ‘seminar’ and actually refers to a virtual seminar (2). In this method, education is conducted via the Internet. In fact, each person must be equipped with a computer as video communication is available via a monitor and a web cam. Each person can communicate with the teacher via the computer. In most cases, exams and certificates are also presented electronically and via the Internet (3).
Webinar technology has many benefits in the area of online learning and allows for real time and synchronous communication between the speaker and the listener, covering long distances to reach the potential audience, and web-based information to be archived for later use (4).Generally, the reported benefits of online learning include increased access to education and educational alternatives, access to up-to-date information, development of skills, efficient learning, and effective execution (5 & 6). Despite these benefits, there are some challenges; for example, evidences suggest that online learning can cause a sense of isolation and dissatisfaction in learners and intensify their disorders (7 & 8).Online learners should have the power to decide on how to prioritize the learning goals, manage time, and find resources (9). Because these are usually among teachers’ responsibilities in traditional classes, some learners may encounter problems in such learning environments. Studies have shown that only those who are motivated and diligent and have a tendency to independent learning, are successful in taking advantage of online learning (5 & 10). In addition, learners need to have a certain degree of knowledge and skill, including creativity and flexibility, in order to learn independently in a complex online environment (9).
Currently, the universities of medical sciences are also seeking to efficiently use these new methods in the form of continuous education to improve the knowledge of the medical community (11). Nowadays, continuous education is an inevitable necessity whose purpose is to improve the professional knowledge and skills of the graduates of the medical sciences and eventually, to improve the health level of the society. It’s essential to try to conduct continuous education programs properly, to choose appropriate teaching methods, and then, to examine learners’ viewpoints in order to improve the quality (12). Continuous education is one of the areas that can be easily conducted via e-learning. The necessity of e-learning is especially felt in regard to the continuous education of the medical community whose members have a wide range of interests, experiences, and educational needs (13). The results of a descriptive-survey study by Rezaei Rad and Mohammadi Ater Goleh showed that faculty members believe that learning via the World Wide Web can facilitate the teaching and learning process up to 62% (14). The findings of the qualitative part of the exploratory study conducted by Dehghan Nayeri et al. showed that continuous education is a scientific and organizational necessity for nurses and if the essential infrastructures are provided and its method of use is taught, the flexibility of education via the web and its effectiveness can make this education method a common method (15). The results of the study conducted by Saleh Sedghpour and Mirzaei showed that those who are aware of the methods of providing e-learning, have a tendency to this education method in order to develop their skills, while those who are not aware of it, do not show any tendency to it due to the types of interaction in this method as well as the lack of adequate awareness (16). The study conducted by Eric et al. (2010) showed that although the pharmacist participants had a positive attitude towards the quality and value of webinars, their average use of webinars was worrying. The study by Liaw and Huang (2003) also showed that for conducting and developing e-learning methods, it is necessary to first identify learners’ readiness in terms of motivation, attitude, beliefs and confidence. The findings of the study conducted by Sadik (2007) showed that the three factors of attitude, experience and competence are effective in preparing a person for e-learning methods. In fact, those who provide continuous education need to overcome several challenges when it comes to web-based continuous education, including ensuring that learners have the necessary skills and equipment to access the Internet, attracting learners to websites, and creating valid and attractive curricula. (Richardson & Norris, 1997; Beasley et al., 2001)
Considering the importance of continuous education for the medical community and the faculty members of universities, much effort is needed to improve the quality and effectiveness of such education. In particular, identifying the learners’ needs and considering their views and demands in formulating continuous education programs are a necessity which can increase the motivation and participation of people in the programs and ultimately can improve the quality of the programs (11). In a review of the existing literature and scientific resources, there was no qualitative study explaining the viewpoints of the faculty members of Iranian universities on continuous education in the form of webinars. Since qualitative studies have a unique capacity to clarify various phenomena (22) and can describe the individuals’ experiences, perspectives, and opinions in accordance with their cultural and social backgrounds (22 & 23), the present study was conducted with the aims of explaining the viewpoints of the faculty members of Gilan University of Medical Sciences on continuous education webinars.
Methodology
The method used for the present study was conventional qualitative content analysis. This study was conducted in 2017-2018. This was the main question of the study: What are the viewpoints and experiences of the faculty members of Gilan University of Medical Sciences in regard to continuous education webinars? The participants included 15 faculty members eligible for this study: they participated in the study voluntarily; they were willing to share their viewpoints and experiences on the subject under study; they were faculty members of Gilan University of Medical Sciences; and they had participated in educational-research webinars at least once. They were chosen in a purposeful way, considering the maximum variety in terms of the variables of sex (male or female), age, field of specialization, academic rank, and work experience. Individual semi-structured interviews with guide questions were used to collect the data. The interviews started with some open-ended questions: “would you mind talking about your experiences with continuous education webinar?”; “what do you think are the problems of and obstacles to holding educational webinars?”; “what facilities do you think should be available in order to hold educational webinars better?” The interviews continued with some exploratory questions: “would you please explain more about this?”; “what do you mean exactly by what you just said?”; and “is there anything else that you consider necessary to talk about?” After informing the participants, the interviews were conducted in the Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedical Sciences of the East of Gilan and the Center for Medical Researches and Education Development of Guilan University of Medical Sciences. Each interview session lasted 30 to 60 minutes. Collecting the data continued until the saturation of the data, i.e. until the collected data became repetitious and consisted of no more new information. Data analysis and data collection were done concurrently and manually. Data analysis was done in accordance with the steps proposed by Graneheim and Lundmanin in the following way: 1- transcribing the whole interview immediately after conducting it, 2- reading the whole text for an overall understanding of its content, 3- determining the meaning units and the initial codes, 4-categorizing the similar initial codes into more inclusive categories, and 5-determining the latent content in the data (20).
In order to ensure the credibility, dependability, transferability, and confirmability, the following measures were taken (21). The long involvement of the researchers in the study, the sufficient and proper interaction with the participants, gathering valid and authentic information, and reaffirming the information by member check increased the credibility of the data. The supplementary views and confirmation of the faculty members sufficiently familiar with qualitative studies increased the confirmability of the data. The regular process of data collection, concurrent data analysis, and data inspection by specialists increased the dependability of the data. An attempt was made to provide an accurate and detailed descriptive report of the research process in order to allow the evaluation of the accuracy, applicability of the results of the study in other scientific fields, and its transferability.
In this study, all the ethical considerations related to studies in the humanities and qualitative studies were observed. The oral and written consent of the participants were taken for voice recording and participating in the study and they were assured of maintaining the confidentiality of all the gathered information. They were also informed that they can leave the study at any stage if they are no longer willing to continue.
Findings
15 faculty members in the 32- 55 age range and an average age of 45.4 years participated in the present study. Regarding their sex, 6 were female and 9 were male. Regarding their fields of specialization, the sample consisted of 2 anatomy specialists, 2 dentistry specialists, 1 specialist of biological statistics, 2 nursing specialists, 1 midwifery specialist, 1 specialist of medical education, 2 physiology specialists, 1 biotechnology specialist, 1 anaesthesiology specialist, 1 specialist of clinical microbiology, and 1 histology-embryology specialist. All the participants were faculty members with an average of 15.8 years of service. In terms of academic rank, the sample consisted of 2 instructors, 8 assistant professors, 4 associate professors, and 1 full professor. The analysis of the data on the participants’ viewpoints and experiences regarding continuous education webinars for faculty members resulted in the formation of 4 main categories and 10 subcategories: 1) “moving across the boundaries of knowledge” with two subcategories, 2) “user-friendliness” with two subcategories, 3) “virtual education challenges” with three subcategories, and “motivators and facilitators” with three subcategories.
Moving across the boundaries of knowledge
One of the main categories derived from the data was movement across the boundaries of knowledge. Based on the viewpoints of the faculty members participating in this study, the establishment of scientific interactions to keep faculty members scientifically updated as well as virtual education and distance learning are among the benefits of holding educational webinars, laying the groundwork for universities’ moving across the boundaries of knowledge.
Up-to-date scientific synergy: The participants in the study unanimously believed that holding scientific webinars is one of the modern educational practices that can play an effective role in sharing up-to-date scientific materials and establishing scientific interactions among faculty members. One of the faculty members who was an assistant professor, said “Anyway, webinar-based education is very good, especially with respect to the opportunity provided for the establishment of scientific links and interactions among faculty members and experts at home or abroad.” Another participant who was an associate professor, said:
Webinar is a kind of system that actually provides the opportunity for exchanging scientific materials between the producers of these materials and their users. The use of scientific webinars in the area of education is in fact part of the transition to the third generation universities. By the way, one of the inherent duties of the university is to use modern and up-to-date methods in order to move across the boundaries of knowledge and to provide faculty members with important and up-to-date materials.
Another participant who was an instructor said “I strongly agree that faculty members’ continuous education should be held in the form of webinars. Webinar is really a pleasant experience, because you can easily use the scientific experiences of others.” One of the faculty members said “I think webinar is a great method and in line with the scientific advancements of the world. It can be a modern education method for connecting individuals, scholars, and experts.”
Distance learning: From the point of view of the participants in the study, the term ‘webinar’ can be associated with distance learning, virtual education, e-learning, web-based education and online educational technology. In this regard, one of the faculty members said “When I hear the word ‘webinar’, the ‘web’ part is more interesting to me, because it means a network communication system.” An associate professor said “Webinar is, in fact, a kind of virtual education in which, learners can be engaged in education via the Internet.” Another participant who was an assistant professor said “Webinar is a computer-based and Internet-based method for distance learning which can be held on-line.” In this regard, one of the instructors also said “The first thing which comes to my mind after hearing the word ‘webinar’, is information technology (IT), i.e. entering the virtual world with the modern computer technology.”
User-friendliness
The second main category derived from the data was user-friendliness. The participants’ descriptions of educational webinars and their emphasis on factors such as flexible education in accordance with learners’ needs and education independent of time and space indicated the user-friendliness, reception, and popularity of this modern education method among them.
Flexible and responsive education: Other benefits repeatedly pointed out by the participants in the present study, were the flexibility of webinar-based education sessions, the ease of conveying educational messages, non-interference with professors’ work schedules, being economical (cost-effectiveness), the possibility of sharing viewpoints and comments in voice or in written form, access to educational content in off-line mode, feeling relaxed while learning, and meeting learners’ needs. In this regard, one of the instructors said: “Webinar-based education should be expanded, because it’s a very good and simple method of using educational materials, providing relevant education at a lower cost compared to other methods.” An associate professor also said: “Anyway, webinar-based education has lots of strong points, in terms of both cost-effectiveness and content permanence, as educational content is permanent and can be saved or used in the offline mode.” Another participant who was an assistant professor stated “Webinar is a great method, especially since it can provide the opportunity for the participants to make comments in the form of voice or text messages. In this way, the educator would not be the sole speaker.” An assistant professor also said:
I have the experience of participating in one or two webinar sessions in which I could participate easily while I was at home and I could use the educational materials. Even if a person does not want to be watched, he can turn off his webcam.
Another instructor stated:
Webinars do not have the difficulties of attending seminars. In fact, in webinars, you can receive education in a very comfortable and relaxed way regardless of your state and conditions. By the way, in today’s life, sometimes, we may have to take care of some matters simultaneously, one of which can be a webinar.
Beyond time and space: Some other benefits of webinar-based education pointed out by most of the participants, were the lack of dependence on time and space, non-attendance-based education, the possibility of holding on holidays and non-office hours, saving time, eliminating educational discrimination (in terms of geographical access), and safety in education, all of which represented webinar-based education’s lack of dependence on the dimensions of time and space. In this regard, one of the participants who was an assistant professor, said:
Webinars have noteworthy benefits; for example, you can receive the educational materials anywhere in the world regardless of the distance and without experiencing the difficulties of physical participation, provided that you have access to the Internet and a computer and install a program. In my opinion, this means eliminating educational discrimination.
Another participant who was an assistant professor, stated:
I very much agree with continuous education webinars. Currently, due to my busy work schedule and my being pressed for time, I cannot attend many education sessions and workshops. However, you can participate in education sessions on holidays and in non-office hours if these sessions are held in the form of webinars.
One of the faculty members said “Webinars save you time and energy. Especially, taking our rather non-standard road and transportation systems into account, problems such as being stuck in traffic and road accidents can be avoided.”
Virtual education challenges
The third main category which was derived from the analysis of the viewpoints expressed by the participants in the study was virtual education challenges. The participants’ viewpoints indicated that besides the numerous benefits of webinar-based education, there are obstacles to optimal webinar-based education, including human-related obstacles, executive difficulties, and structural deficiencies.
Executive difficulties: Among the executive difficulties of educational webinars pointed out by some of the participants in the study, were: the lack of the possibility of obtaining sufficient and appropriate feedback from learners, one-way education and the educator’s being the sole speaker, the lack of adequate control over learners’ participation in webinars, the lack of necessary interpersonal interactions, time pressure and the bulk of presented materials, inefficiency in terms of educating practical skills, the lack of mechanisms for obtaining non-verbal feedback from learners, and inefficiency in regard to codified education. In this regard, one of the participants who was an assistant professor, said:
In my opinion, when attending continuous education sessions, all learners try to focus on the educator and pay attention to him. However, it may not be necessarily the case with webinars and educators cannot have the requisite and sufficient control of the education environment and the learners. Besides, in webinars, there’s much less interaction between the educator and the learner, and education would be useless without interaction. Therefore, I prefer using the learning management system (LMS) over holding educational webinars.
Another participant who was an associate professor, said:
One of the disadvantages of webinar-based education is that it’s entirely based on visual and auditory information. Therefore, it cannot have the same effect as face-to-face education and information exchanges in which the learner comprehends the materials with his whole being.
In this regard, another faculty member stated “Theoretical materials can be educated via webinars, but practical skills cannot be educated via webinars.” Another participant who was an assistant professor said “Codified materials cannot be educated via webinars, because codified education has a clear definition and must necessarily be conducted practically and cannot be conducted virtually via webinar with its limitations.” Another faculty member who was an assistant professor said “I have the experience of participating in an educational webinar which I could not fully take advantage of, because the program was very tight, a lot of stuff was presented, and besides, there was no time to practice.” Another participant who was an assistant professor said:
In education, many interactions are non-verbal; that is, you can receive feedback from facial expressions. In webinars, it’s not possible to receive responses, exchange emotions, and react non-verbally, especially if the learner is unwilling to turn his webcam on to let the educator and the other participants see him.
Another participant who was an assistant professor stated:
In my opinion, continuous education can be conducted in the form of webinar, but webinar is not enough; combined methods should be used in education. By the way, webinar is a teacher-centered method in which there is no learner participation. However, education requires interpersonal interaction.
Structural deficiencies: The analysis of the participants’ experiences and viewpoints showed that currently, the obstacles to holding continuous education webinars include: the lack of requisite software and hardware infrastructures, the lack of high-speed Internet, and the lack of required computer equipment. In this regard, one of the instructors said:
It seems to me that one of the greatest challenges of holding webinars is the deficiency of the infrastructures. I once participated in a webinar, but unfortunately the low speed of the Internet did not allow the program to continue. The sound was constantly interrupted and, in any case, we could not continue the program.
In this regard, an assistant professor also said:
Among the main obstacles to holding webinars are the interruption of the Internet connection and the fluctuation of its speed. This causes the video and audio to be constantly interrupted during the webinar, consequently distracting the participants and disrupting the education.
Another participant who was an assistant professor, stated “As a modern technology, webinars are very good, but if the infrastructures are deficient, the computer equipment is insufficient, the Internet connection is inappropriate, low-speed, or constantly interrupted, you cannot hope to take full advantage of webinars.”
Human-related obstacles: From the perspective of the participants in this study, experienced faculty members’ resistance, the lack of necessary awareness of and sufficient familiarity with web-based technologies, the lack of interest in and motivation for taking advantage of webinars, and their not taking webinars seriously, were considered as the human-related obstacles to holding continuous education webinars. One of the faculty members who was on an associate professor said:
One of the challenges of holding webinars is experienced faculty members’ resistance to this technology which can be attributed to their inability to deal with it. The more simple the educational systems and programs are, the more efficiently and easily old people can use them.
An assistant professor said:
In my opinion, those who are not accustomed to such educational programs are challenges themselves. For example, the professors who graduated 20 years ago and are not familiar enough with computers and the Internet, will be certainly unwilling to participate in webinars. These people definitely need to be educated and, of course, I think everyone will get familiar with this technology over time.
Another instructor said:
I think one of the challenges is that webinars are not usually taken seriously. At first, it should be mandatory for faculty members to participate in such programs and in this way, it’s possible to convince others to participate as well. If such policies are not implemented, many people will not be usually willing to participate in webinars.
Motivators and facilitators
The fourth main category derived from the analysis of the participants’ statements and experiences, was the category of motivators and facilitators which consisted of some subcategories, namely modernizing the infrastructures, appropriate educational design, and preparing the learners.
Modernizing the infrastructures: All the participants in this study believed that in order to hold continuous education webinars and to move towards modern education methods it’s first necessary to change the traditional educational equipment and infrastructures and to renew and modernize them. In this regard, one of the faculty members who was an associate professor stated:
Universities need to change their old and traditional equipment and facilities and to provide more advanced and equipped educational infrastructures based on the technology of the day. Although it may have a huge financial burden, it is cost-effective in the long run.
Another participant who was an assistant professor stated “Infrastructures are important to hold webinars. Computer equipment as well as active and extensive Internet network must be accessible to all.” One of the instructors stated:
In the current situation, with the lack of equipment and the low-speed Internet, faculty members’ continuous education cannot be conducted via webinars. This situation should be dealt with and network infrastructures and high-speed Internet should be provided.
Appropriate educational design: Among other factors derived from the analysis of some of the participants’ viewpoints and statements and recognized as the facilitators of holding continuous education webinars, were: coherent and structured educational planning, choosing appropriate educational topics, objectives, and content, audience-centered education (learner-centeredness), limiting the number of participants in webinar-based education, and developing appropriate educational evaluation methods. In this regard, one of the faculty members who was an assistant professor said “In my opinion, the educator should have a good lesson plan, have enough mastery of the topic, and be able to get feedback from the participants during the webinar.” An associate professor also said:
We should pay attention to the quality of webinar-based education. These programs should be purposeful and follow educational objectives. They should have the necessary flexibility to fit faculty members’ work schedule in terms of both time and space. Unfortunately, in some cases, organizations try to hold continuous education sessions, however they are accused of advertising something, and in this way, the educational aspect may lose its significance to some extent.
An assistant professor also said:
Educational webinars should be planned and structured. The necessity of holding the webinar and the target group should be determined beforehand. It should be possible for everyone to simultaneously have audio and video communication. Besides, in my opinion, the number of participants should be limited in order to provide the possibility of interaction between the educator and the learners.
Another faculty member who was an assistant professors, said:
Choosing the topic, the objectives, the educational content and organizing the webinar sessions are important. I think webinars can merely be useful for developing the cognitive domain and increasing the knowledge of the learners. Furthermore, the length of continuous education webinar sessions, the bulk of instructional materials, and the number of the participants should be limited.
An assistant professor also said:
The webinar’s educational packages should be designed beforehand. The challenges of holding the webinar should be resolved. All the participants should be asked to turn their webcam in order to provide the possibility of controlling the learners and interacting. Most importantly, valid and reliable methods should be provided to evaluate the learners.
Preparing the learners: According to the viewpoints of most of the participants in the study, another facilitating factor in holding continuous education webinars, is to prepare faculty members liable to this kind of education. This factor consisted of other components such as preparing the learners with preliminary tutorials, familiarizing the learners with the importance of virtual education, motivating the learners, and the presence of a skilled and expert facilitator during webinar sessions. In this regard, an assistant professor said:
People who are going to participate in a webinar, should be already familiar with it and know the mechanism of this method. Besides, there should be a person to quickly solve the problems which may arise during the program.
One of the faculty members who was an instructor said:
People should be familiarized with the importance of this educational method. Familiarizing people with this method can be a big step. In order to prepare people, workshops should be held for them. In order to mentally prepare the learners, it’s even advisable to provide them with handouts containing some brief information on the topic to be discussed.
Another instructor stated:
In addition to preparing and informing people, they should be motivated and encouraged to participate in webinars. For example, it’s possible to give some privileges to the faculty members who participate in webinars in order to motivate them.
Discussion
In the present study, the faculty members’ viewpoints and experiences regarding continuous education webinars were explained under four main categories: 1- moving across the boundaries of knowledge, 2- user-friendliness, 3- virtual education challenges, and 4- motivators and facilitators.
The first main category derived from the analysis of the participants’ statements and viewpoints, indicative of the importance of holding continuous education in the form of webinars, and depicting the educational benefits of this method, was movement across the boundaries of knowledge, which was based on two subcategories of up-to-date scientific synergy and distance learning. Electronic systems can be tools for continuous education in medicine and basic sciences and they can also be considered as an important educational strategy for the universities of medical sciences. (Emami et al., 2009) Four significant e-learning benefits to those liable to continuous education are: being interactive, the possibility of sharing the resources, flexibility, and the accessibility of the learning environment to all. (Ebrahimi Kooshk Mahd & Asadi, 2012) Internet-based education is a useful and practicable method of continuous distance learning in medicine, providing opportunities for interacting at the international level and sharing experiences and educational materials. Computers, with their high capacity for managing information and communication, are the most powerful tools for processing information and revealing new methods of education. The Internet can facilitate free education in universities and inaccessible places. (Emami et al., 2009; Reid et al., 2012)
Another category derived from the analysis of the participants’ viewpoints and experiences, was user-friendliness, indicating another aspect of the benefits of webinar-based continuous education and its acceptability in terms of being flexible, responsive, and beyond time and space. If designing and conducting continuous medical education program are responsive to the actual needs of the participants, the efficiency of these programs will increase. The results of a qualitative study showed that if continuous medical education is not responsive to learners’ needs, it will be usually impracticable and lack efficiency. (Faghihi et al., 2017)
In a qualitative study carried out in Iran in 2015 with the title “explaining the problems of continuous education programs of general practitioners from the perspective of faculty members”, inappropriate timing of conducting the programs and neglecting the needs and conditions of the general practitioners liable to these educational program, were among the reasons for their lack of motivation for participating in continuous education program. (Hakak et al., 2017) E-learning and webinar-based education provide learning opportunities for learners with great flexibility and without temporal, geographical, physical, and social limitations. (Rashidtorabi et al., 2008; Ebrahimi Kooshk Mahdi & Asadi, 2012) It seems logical that Internet-based continuous education programs are more advantageous than attendance-based programs, because Internet-based programs save time and cost, do not need physical movement, are accessible at any time and from any computer connected to the Internet. (Ebrahimi Kooshk Mahdi & Asadi, 2012) The results of a descriptive – cross-sectional study on general practitioners also revealed that most of the participants in the study (57.1%) prefer electronic continuous education programs to similar attendance-based programs. (Mirzaei et al., 2012)
The third category derived from the analysis of the participants’ statements and experiences, depicts another aspect of virtual continuous education which was somewhat different from the two categories just mentioned. The third category was virtual education challenges. The foundations of this category were factors such as executive difficulties, structural deficiencies, and human-related obstacles, all of which depicted the obstacles to and problems of holding webinar-based continuous education. The growing e-learning system has given rise to concerns and challenges in regard to the usefulness and effectiveness of this type of education. (Momeni Rad & Aliabadi, 2010) In general, online methods and programs are considered less useful compared to face-to-face methods and programs. (Angelino et al., 2007; Boston et al., 2011) The study conducted by Lee and Robert (2006) showed that computer-based learning is less effective in enhancing learning compared to traditional methods and that one of the most important negative consequences of using computer-based learning is the lack of face-to-face education which is of particular importance in medical education. The physical and mental distance between the instructor and the learner in online methods can give rise to the feelings of alienation and disconnectedness. (Ivankova & Stick, 2005; Hart, 2012) Feeling alienated and disconnected in online methods is the main reason behind this method’s high dropout rate. (Rovai & Wighting, 2005; Trello, 2007; Bolinger & Inan, 2012) In the study conducted by Rashidtorabi et al. (2008), one of the reasons for the failure of the Internet in medical education was the separation between the learner and the teacher; especially, those who considered this physical proximity as a significant factor did not accept online education. The study conducted by Ebrahimi Kooshk Mahdi abd Asadi (2012) showed that the shorter the length of the Internet-based continuous education is, the more it will be welcomed. Of course, the learners in attendance-based programs also request that the length of the sessions of continuous education be kept short. The results of a qualitative study showed that if attendance-based continuous education programs take too long, faculty members will grow weary. (Pourghane et al., 2018) The results of the study conducted by Loukzadeh et al., (2014) also showed that according to the majority of faculty members, the proper length of time for electronic programs is 30 to 45 minutes per week.
Among the interesting results of this study presented under the executive difficulties of holding continuous education webinars, was the inadequacy of webinar-based continuous education and recommendations for holding combined education programs. In the field of medical education, education in purely electronic methods alone is not useful. (Emami et al., 2009) Teaching practical skills which are learnt through practice and experience, is not feasible via the Internet. (Rashidtorabi et al., 2008) Besides, a sudden change of the direct and face-to-face education method with its long history in Iran’s academic education will be doomed to failure. It seems that the use of the combined education method can lead to the gradual success of e-learning in Iran’s academic education. (Mirzamohammadi, 2017) A proper combination of attendance-based and online education is a flexible approach to learning. (Mironov et al., 2012)
The lack of infrastructures was one of the main challenges presented in this study, posing problems to conducting webinar-based continuous education programs. In the study conducted by Ebrahimi Kooshk Mahdi and Asadi (2012), one of the reasons for the decline in participation in online education programs was the lack of access to computers or high-speed Internet at work and at home. In more than 60% of the Iranian universities of medical sciences, the necessary software and hardware infrastructures for conducting electronic education programs are not provided. (Zare Bidaki, 2014) The results of the studies conducted in other educational institutes indicate that human resource indices, funds, and technological and psychological readiness are among the determining factors in designing e-learning courses. (Bazm, 2014) According to the study conducted by Saberi et al. (2018), software and hardware equipment play a pivotal role in virtual education and the lack of any of the necessary components will seriously damage the execution of this new system.
In the present study, another set of obstacles to holding continuous education webinars that was derived from the analysis of the participants’ statements, included human-related obstacles such as experienced faculty members’ resistance, the lack of necessary knowledge, the lack of sufficient familiarity with web-based technologies, and the lack of motivation and interest. E-learning has limitations, including learners’ probable lack of precise understanding of cyber spaces, their lack of full acquaintance with its capabilities and functions, and the dependence of their success on technical skills in using computers. (Shuster et al., 2003) Also, the learners’ lack of motivation, interest, and their negative attitudes are serious obstacles to using e-learning. (Mirzamohammadi, 2017) University professors’ negative attitudes to the Internet can be attributed to the fact that they have to receive much training and to change their particular methods and styles in order to adapt themselves to the new situation. (Myers et al., 2004) The study conducted by Mehraram et al. (2016) showed that the learners in continuous medical education programs do not have the necessary knowledge of receiving information by electronic means despite having the proper attitude and readiness in this regard. The study conducted by Folorunso et al. (2006) also showed that the low level of computer knowledge is one of the key factors in the learners’ regarding e-learning programs as unacceptable and non-useful. In the study conducted by Godin et al. (1999), the lack of computer skills was the major factor in physicians’ avoidance of using computer-based methods. Besides, more experienced physicians used computer-based technologies less than other physicians. However, according to the results of the study conducted by Loukzadeh et al. (2014) on 74 faculty members participating in a continuous education program, more experienced participants had more tendency to participate in online continuous education programs.
The fourth main category derived from the analysis of the participants’ statements and experiences was motivators and facilitators. This category was derived from subcategories such as modernizing the infrastructures, appropriate educational design, and preparing the learners. The success of conducting e-learning in medical universities first demands the establishment of the necessary infrastructures and standards. Without regard to these infrastructures and standards, e-learning will not be able to achieve its goals. (Dargahi et al., 2008) To have an efficient virtual education system, the facilitators of this system need to be in a desirable condition. (Saberi et al., 2018) The organizational structure of the universities of medical sciences should be transformed. In this regard, conditions such as strong infrastructures, necessary educational standards, proper culture-building and change in the society’s cultural attitude to education, investment and the participation of the state and the private sector in this area should be prepared. (Emami et al., 2009) By providing incentives and educational requirements for educational interactions via cyberspace, we can reduce learners’ resistance to e-learning and increase their interest. (Zare Bidaki, 2014) Producing appropriate content, developing technical and communication infrastructures, promoting general literacy, teaching necessary skills to professors and learners and encouraging them in this regard, and creating appropriate structures and platforms for necessary interactions are among the requisite factors to promote e-learning in the universities of medical sciences. (Emami et al., 2009) The results of a qualitative study conducted in Iran showed that cyber capacity, ICT skills, and general literacy are among the key factors in learners’ success in e-learning. (Khorasani et al., 2017) In order to take advantage of e-learning methods, educational environments require skilled and capable human resources in technical, administrative, educational and user-related areas. (Mehraram et al., 2016) The results of the descriptive study conducted by Asghari et al. (2012) also showed that not only teachers should learn how to use the new technology, but also they should focus on the quality of the content of e-learning packages. They had also admitted that it’s not feasible to evolve Iranian universities by merely providing the necessary infrastructures of e-learning and that the important points are to prepare learners for virtual education and to enhance the organizational efficiency of backup systems. Just like the present study, the results of the descriptive study conducted by Ebrahimi Kooshk Mahdi and Asadi (2012) also showed that producing high-quality educational content, shorter duration of the course, properly supporting learners during the learning process, holding attendance-based training courses on how to use e-learning programs, and simplifying the application of e-learning systems are among the factors facilitating the efficient use of Internet-based continuous education.
Just like other similar qualitative studies, one of the limitations of this study is the generalizability of its findings. In this study, the viewpoints of the faculty members eligible to participate in this study were explained. It is suggested that similar qualitative studies be conducted in other Iranian universities of medical sciences in order to obtain richer data in this regard. Also, by conducting qualitative studies on the viewpoints and experiences of the officials and authorities responsible for planning and organizing continuous education programs for faculty members, more comprehensive results can be obtained.
The present qualitative study provided an opportunity to explain the viewpoints of faculty members. The analysis of the interviews with the participants in the study made it possible to determine four main categories in relation to holding continuous education webinars, namely moving across the boundaries of knowledge, user-friendliness, virtual education challenges, and motivators and facilitators. According to the results, even though the participants described the benefits of webinar-based continuous education from different perspectives and expressed their viewpoints and positive experiences in this regard, the analysis of their statements showed that the main preconditions for holding successful and effective continuous education webinars are the existence of the necessary software and hardware infrastructures, high-speed and accessible Internet, purposeful educational design, and preparing, motivating and encouraging faculty members to participate in such educational programs.

Translation - English Investigating the Effect of Fullerene on the Base Property of Paraphenylenediamine by using the Quantum Chemistry Methods
Abstract
In this study, paraphenylenediamine was first bonded to the fullerene and was optimized. Using the quantum chemistry methods, paraphenylenediamine was examined in the isolated state and in the fullerene-bonded state via carbon atoms. In the experimental research, the simulation was done by using the Gauss View software. Then, the bonding orbital calculation was done by using the NBO method. All the calculations were done by using the Hartree-Fock method in the basis set 6-31G* (HF/6-31G*) and the Gauss View and Gaussian 2003 software in the gas phase. The contribution of p-orbital in the N-H bond, the natural charge and the number of valence electrons on the nitrogen atom at the site bonding to the fullerene were investigated in the isolated state and in the fullerene-bonded state. All evidence showed a decrease in the base property of the nitrogen atom at the site of bonding to the fullerene.

1. Introduction
Today there are more than 30 types of fullerene, most notably C60. The fullerene consists of 20 hexagonal and twelve pentagonal rings as the basis of an icosohedral symmetry closed cage structure. In 1996, Harold et al. won the Nobel Prize for discovering the fullerenes. [1]
Since fullerenes do not have a chemical group available for substitution reactions, they only engage addition reactions. Fullerene derivatives are used as enzyme inhibitors. Fullerenes have shown that they are capable of counteracting a few types of cancer cells. [2]
Due to their hollow spherical structure, they are used as medication carriers. Essential enzymes, hormones or medications can be attached to the inside or outside of the fullerenes; thus, they have many uses in Nano-medicine. [3]
Paraphenylenediamine (PPD) is a synthetic chemical compound widely used in synthetic hair colors. It is also used in the rubber and print industries. This compound is colorless, light pink, gray or yellow and in the form of solid crystals, and typically becomes red, brown, and finally black when it is exposed to the air and oxidized. The user has to be cautious and prevent this chemical compound having direct contact with his/her skin. Recent studies have reported that the risk of cancer increases in people who have been exposed to this substance for long. [4]
The compound produced by bonding paraphenylenediamine to the fullerene (C60-PPD) act as the inhibitor of Carbonic anhydrase XII (one of the Carbonic anhydrase enzymes released in tumor cells in response to the oxygen deficiency) through interaction with the active part of the enzyme. [5] (Figure 1)
