It's part of an overhead crane used for 'ladling' out slag (escoria) from the slag pit.
"La capacidad mínima de la cuchara bivalba será: 3m3 considerando una densidad de material de 0,85 ton/m3 con cuchara cerrada"
It's definitely 'bivalBa' and not 'bivalva'.
I've translated it as 'bivalve ladle', which is kind of accurate, but it doesn't actually exist. I like the sound of 'double scoop', but the I can't help thinking - ICE CREAM.
Please tell me what this is called in English:
