Japanese term

パタパタ

Non-PRO Japanese to English Art/Literary Cinema, Film, TV, Drama
Dear ProZ members,

do you have any ideas on how to translate パタパタ in the following context?

Two guys are escaping with a box in their hands. Some people are running after them, and they don't want they discover what's inside. The box is quite heavy and not easy to transport: they have to hold it up together. The runaways are on a beach and have to pass a short slope to continue their escape (maybe there are stairs, but it can't be seen).
Anyway, it's not so easy to pass it carrying something so heavy.

One of them just says: パタパタ!

Could it mean to go ahead with baby steps to avoid stumbling?

Any hints?

Thank you!

Walk fast!

It's an onomatopoeia of a walking sound. It also implies a quick movement. So, So, I guess it means "walk fast". See 2. and 3. in the link below:
