Mutationsstelle BL

German to English Other Military / Defense Authorization for Residence Abroad
From a Swiss army authorization for residence abroad. Under the section stating the different locations where copies of the authorization will be filed.

I know that "BL" refers to Basel-Landschaft, but I can't find any definition or translation for Mutationsstelle that doesn't refer to genetic mutation.

Any input would be appreciated.

Hi Mack I've only found the French translation, "Service de transfer". It's more an office, not as important as a department.

@franglish Being at the source, you should be able to find out what that is. I would even just call it "records department". You wouldn't have to specifically mention updating because what use is a records department if you don't update the data.

So you might describe it as a type of "member administration department" for the region "Basel Land" or "change of records department"

@cbeene Swiss German often uses words of French origin, here 'mutation', meaning 'Versetzung' in this context in German, 'transfer' in English. Also, it's Basel-Land, not Basel-Landschaft.

I sent an email to a Swiss organization that has a "Mutationsstelle" and got a nice reply. Sometimes that's the fastest way to get information. Just a quick and polite email and then you get an explanation. I reckon that should apply to your inquiry, too.

Guten Abend Herr Tillman,

Die Mutationstelle für den VSLF kummert sich um die Anmeldung und Austritte und Abrechnung jeden Monat für alle Bahngeselschaft und verschiedene Büro arbeiten und die Datenbank der Mittglieder Liste auf dem Aktuellen stand zu halten Adressänderung etc....

Ich hofe da ich Sie mit dieser Antwort weiter helfen konnte.
