German term
Erproberkreis
German to English
Tech/Engineering
Media / Multimedia
Hi all,
Would anyone be able to help me with the term "Erproberkreis"? It comes from a cover letter for a job where the applicant is describing his function in a previous job:
Einführung des „User Centered Design Process“, Definition der Schnittstellen, Aquirierung des Erproberkreises und die Qualifizierung einer Design Agentur.
Thanks,
Gavin

test panel
The asker has explained in the discussion box that the person designs user interfaces. I would say "set up/recruited test panel". These would be people, presumably users, who assess whether the interface works.

I would simply say user becaus in "User Centered Design Process" or as SAP puts it UX User Experience the design process aims at the "user". It is ultimately the user that uses a system and it is the user for which the user is designed so it's all about user centricity and therefore it's either the plain user or test user.
If you would like some more good information on User Centered Design Process see the MOOC: Design for Non-Designers on mooc.house It explains the design process and will show that the "Erproberkreis" are actually the "users" or "end users".

@philgoddard: or test users.
Don't forget, we are talking about User Centered Design Process! And who is usually at the center of this design process? The user/users!

: But erproben doesn't mean to use, and we're talking about a group, not an individual.

OK, then users. I forgot the "s". You are right, erproben doesn't mean use but the persons to test a system in a User Centered Design Process are the users themselves and not other candidates that might not have anything to do with the system.

Discussion
The applicant has experience in human-machine interfaces (HMI and UX) in the medical-technical sector and his duties included those listed above.
I think so. Provisionally, I have "sample group" which is pretty close to your proposal. As you might have seen, there's very little online ( 4 Google entries I think!!).
