French term

herse cadenassable

French to English Tech/Engineering Engineering (general) Safety device for working on high-voltage machinery
HERSE CADENASSABLE

What I understand this to mean is some kind of device where you can attach several padlocks and that each operator has his own padlock which they add. Only when all of them are removed, you can operate the switch. It's something to do with "locking out", but I can't remember the term in English.

It sounds to me as if... 'herse' here has the general meaning of some kind of 'portcullis' (a vertically-moving gate, or pull-down grille, perhaps?)

Thanks Wendy. It's impossible to tell from info supplied whether the "herse" is the actual hasp, or an array of bars locked down by padlocking it. However, there has to be some sort of multilock hasp for this type of system.
