French term

Rés. Part.

French to English Social Sciences Education / Pedagogy Transcript of Grades for Belgian University of Mons
In a transcript of examination grades for the University of Mons the headings are "Cours", "1ère ses.", "Crédits", "MAX", "Res. Part." All terms are clear to me but the last. The entries under "Res. Part." are sometimes the same as those under "1ère ses.) (qwhich are clearly the grades, sometimes quite different, and I cannot discern a pattern.

Discussion

Nikki Scott-Despaigne Jan 18, 2015:
If the Belgian temirnology is the same as the French temrinology, then this may be referring to results at "partiels", end-of-term exams (end of semester). You might like to look at the PDF of the Mons Uni exam rules and regs to see what terms are used there and how there are to be understood : https://portail.umons.ac.be/FR/universite/admin/aff_academiq... MOre up-to-date version is here. Reading on from Article 28 may get something helpful for you : http://portail.umons.ac.be/FR/universite/admin/drh/emploi/Ma...

Comments from inquiry poster I failed to mention that some of the numbers under "res. part." are GREATER than those in the column "first session, which would seem to contradict the concept of "re. part." meaning "partial results".
Roy vd Heijden Jan 17, 2015:
Rés. Résultats ?
Ingeborg Gowans (X) Jan 17, 2015:
at first glance I would say "resumé partiel? From the context given, this might make sense, if there are grades listed. Hope this helps a bit

Partial results

I'd guess this would be the answer, especially as the marks in this column are sometimes the same as in the 1ère session. It would suggest that there is to be another exam sometime and that the two together would make up the final mark. In the meantime, you have a partial result.

The asker's information on the numbers suggests that this answer is wrong. I would now go with EOT (end-of-term) results.

For France this would be...

Were this France, this would be read as "partiel", as in end-of-term exam, one at the end of each semester, winter and summer. Each partiel has 2 sessions, the 1st session being the first sitting, the 2nd session being the resit. However, after posting first as a reference, then as an answer, I'm back here on the reference section as it dawned on me this is Mons, Belgium therefore. Oooop! THen reckoned it might be helpful in the future to set out wat it would be for France.

Session d'examen

Il y a deux sessions d'examen au cours de l'année universitaire. La première session se déroule en deux temps, puisqu'elle se compose des examens de janvier et de juin donnant chacun à délibérations de jury. La deuxième session a lieu en septembre.

Examens
Les examens se déroulent en deux sessions :

la première, qui porte d'abord en janvier-février sur la totalité des matières dont l'enseignement est achevé à la fin du 1er semestre, puis en mai-juin-juillet sur le reste des enseignements du 2nd semestre ;

Note from asker:
Thanks. I suspect the last entry gets it, as it would be compatible with a separate final exam grade. Regards, Tom
