Gemma:
Hi everyone, my child is 4 and a half, I have two others at 8 and 10. We have just moved house and had to take the older two out of school and put them into a new school. We also took our 4 year old out of nursery as it was too far. My four year old never settled in nursery, in fact hated it and constantly worried about going. So when we moved the school my older two are in does not have a nursery, so we decided to keep our 4 year old at home until september so he could go straight into reception without settling him and taking him out of another nursery.
Soon after I moved the health visitor rang me to say that she wants to visit the 4 year old and also asked me why he is not in nursery. Now I feel like I sound like a bad mother, when all I was doing was trying to cause less upheavel from him as he is so shy and hard to settle.
I am just asking if anyone knows of or has had a health visitor come out at 4 and half years, I have never heard of it.

Hi Gemma, it's a transfer in visit - all children under 5 are offered one though you can turn it down it's sometimes good to have as they let you know the sort of things going on in the area and advise you on any issues you may be having. As for nursery, your little one doesn't 'need' to be in one so don't worry, I'm sure again it's just something they have to ask.
