Some consumers would like to know exactly how much a dealer is making on the sale of each automobile, but dealers do not care to disclose their profit margins. In most instances, it is appropriate that the dealer not disclose such margins.

For example (just imagine), in a year a typical dealer sells 1,000 cars and earns $2,000,000 - that\'s his total profit. Then his profit per car is obviously $2,000. This, of course, must take into account the salary, inventory and maintenance, advertising, and any other costs the dealer must incur to sell that many cars.
