Discussion

Refugio Jan 30, 2005:
The Dictionary of the Real Academia says 2. intr. Dicho de una persona: Aparecer por algn sitio. It is not necessary to say that he sighted land and made port. Just that he appeared in that place.
Non-ProZ.com Jan 30, 2005:
Would you agree on "Mentioned by Estrabon and Ptolomeo, tradition tells that on it, San Pablo (St. Paul)"sighted land" and made port."
Non-ProZ.com Jan 30, 2005:
It is related to the Isle of Tabarca.

The complete sentence is "Citada por Estrabn y Ptolomeo, cuenta la tradicin que en ella recal San Pablo."

Selected

disembarked on

Another option
Tabarca has a curious history, having been mentioned by the Greek historians Strabo and Ptolemy, and it is believed to be the island that St. Paul disembarked on, giving his name to the settlement established here before it became a refuge for Berber pirates in the Middle Ages.

...says that Saint Paul manifested himself (was manifested / became alive) in/through her

That's the way I understand it. Good luck, Sabina:-)

I didn\'t see the comments/explanations above; I was just answering the cuestion.Anyway, \'made port\' is enough, I think. When you make port you always have to sight land before.Good luck again.S:-)

made landfall

Recalar significa "llegar o volver a puerto" según Marina Orellana. Estoy en la duda ¿san Pedro llegó o volvió al puerto? "made landfall" me parece englobar ambas posibilidades.
