Swedish term

studiehandledare

Swedish to English Social Sciences Education / Pedagogy
Is there an official translation for 'studiehandledare'? I'm coming across everything from tutor to study counselor, but none sound exactly right to me! Thanks

Tutor You all may be right. I'm sure I'v been influenced by my upbringing as tutor is the normal term at Oxford, Cambridge and many other English universities.
Christopher Schröder Feb 10, 2021:
Not at Cambridge, Paul. But we still need to know the context. I suspect it isn't higher education.

I understand this as someone who helps/supervises immigrant children at school. Is that your context? I don't know if we have a direct equivalent in the UK, but some variation on (school/education/second-language) support officer might cover it.

tutor, supervisor

I propose tutor, as that is most often used in educational contexts. Supervisor roles exist in a wide range of activities, so it is less specific.

agree Pia Walker : Supervisor if it is in higher education: PhD supervisor, for example

agree Andrej Furlan : I agree with Pia. Tutor is in school, supervisor in higher education.
