Project Manager for the detailed design, construction management and post-implementation monitoring of the circa £1.6M public realm outside a landmark John Lewis store in Exeter. The store opening in autumn 2012 required a condensed programme of delivery, including fast-track consultation with stakeholders and local communities, whilst maintaining high quality design principles. Despite the time constraints, detailed consultation including disability group engagement was undertaken to create an inclusive and accessible scheme. The delivery team took the role of NEC3 Project Manager, tendering/managing the public realm build contract to encourage close collaboration with the store building contractor. Due to the condensed programme, the project required significant crisis management to successfully deliver the public realm to coincide with the successful opening of the store, including commercial negotiation with John Lewis regarding contributing to delay and acceleration costs created by store works. The project was successful and ultimately won the British Council of Shopping Centres – Gold Award in 2013.
