Son contact avec les galeristes était légendaire. Partout elle était reçue avec déférences alors qu’en fait elle n’achetait principalement que des œuvres sur papier à l’encontre des gros collectionneurs qui s’arrachaient les derniers succès à la mode. Mais son flair, son regard juste, son appréciation réfléchie, sa modestie incitaient même des marchands à lui réserver des pièces qu’elle découvrait avec ravissement dans les réserves derrière les cimaises officielles. Il lui arrivait d’être interpellée plusieurs fois par une même pièce, à différentes occasions, avant de se dire que la pièce l’avait choisie plutôt qu’inversement. Ce fut la belle histoire en 2006 de la rencontre avec le Motherwell, Figure 4 n#12.
Initiant sa collection par l’achat d’un pochoir de Joan Miro à la galerie parisienne Maeght en 1960, elle ne pu résister à l’achat d’une lithographie de Braque, encore à Paris, quelques années plus tard, ayant appris le jour même la mort de l’artiste. Journaliste dans l’âme pourrait on dire, elle provoqua aussi des rencontres intéressantes. Non pas seulement au niveau du monde de l’art mais aussi au niveau de l’actualité politique internationale. Ayant complété ses études par un séjour au Collège d’Europe de Bruges, elle obtint un poste à la Communauté Européenne à Bruxelles qui la maintint dans une certaine aisance financière.

Official here means 'standard' or 'normal' really. We do say the same in English, with a slight hint of irony, which is also there in the French.
