Short story,
I must translate this short story. Are there any literary features such as metaphors, idioms, slang and such that I must look out for? What are they?

This is written by a man from Argentina, he is writing for a Canadian Spanish-speaking audience. It doesn't seem that his terminology is technical.
Oh yes, how would you translate "Las Letras"? The writing? The words?

a winning competitor's admission/account
It was quite an amusing account from a competitor that had no other notion than to be chosen as winner at all costs. In the document he admits what he had to do to "get rid" of other competitors by wahtever means that was necessary.
