a scrap of cloth from green trousers collected along with body parts
My reading, given the circumstances.
This is from an expert report into the deaths of people killed by machine-gun fire in a massacre, some years after the mass grave was found. Legal reports into the masacre (see http://www.cidh.org/annualrep/2006sp/ElSalvador10.720sp.htm , for example) tell us the bodies were largely pulverised, so it was difficult to do any ballistic tests. However a bit of cloth from someone's trousers (US: pants) was found among the human remains that were collected, along with the 'encamisado' referred to in another of Robert's questions.
