French term

laitier

French to English Tech/Engineering Metallurgy / Casting surtraitance
"l’ensemble de la chaîne logistique à l’exception de l’approvisionnement ferrailles et traitement des laitiers". No further context as it's a small item in a document on a separate topic.

My guess is that it is related to pig iron but I don't want to lead answerers.

Yes, thanks, it is slag. I found it on Le Grand Dictionnaire. Should have looked there first.
Daryo Dec 10, 2013:
laitier (slag or slags) seems to fit perfectly; where is the problem?
Howard Sugar Dec 10, 2013:
One defintion of laitier is slag or slags.
Catharine Cellier-Smart Dec 10, 2013:
slag or dross? Any reason not to go with the standard dictionary definition(s)?
