**Temporal binding** is one tiny slice of the cognitive biases that form our everyday thinking. The overarching concept is that our memories are not passive recorders, nor are they primarily focused on the accurate recall of details.

Vorrei tradurre come "legame temporale", ma non so se esita un corrispettivo italiano più specifico.

Temporal binding is one manifestation of this general phenomenon, and is related to the logical fallacy, post hoc ergo propter hoc – after this therefore because of this. We tend to assume that if A precedes B then it is likely that A caused B. The logical fallacy is in assuming that A did in fact cause B without adequate independent evidence, merely because of the temporal association.

Alla fine chiama il fenomeno proprio "associazione temporale". Solo per il fatto che due eventi si verificano vicini nel tempo, uno dopo l'altro, sono temporalmente associati l'uno all'altro, vengono considerati uno la causa dell'altro. Tra di essi si crea un'associazione di tipo causale - un legame, se vuoi, ma, come dicevo, legame è molto generico, è un termine piuttosto aspecifico e qui serve specificià, perché l'espressione deve essere in se stessa già parzialmente esplicativa.
Il termine "associazione", per il suo uso in psicologia, trasmette subito l'idea di ciò di cui si sta parlando.
