A week in hand means that the employer holds on to one weeks wages for a week after you have earned it. If you start work on the 1st January you will get paid for that week not on the 7th but on the 14th so after that you get paid every week but the employer always owes you at least one weeks money. Under current UK law an employee, unless the contract specifies more, must give one weeks notice. If an employee walks out without giving that notice then the employer can hold on to that weeks money.

neutral  Polangmar: Trzeba by dać: "po upływie tygodnia od ostatniego dnia okresu, którego dotyczy należność" (o ile liczymy ten okres tylko do piątku, a nie do niedzieli), bo wypłata dotyczy też np. poniedziałku, a od poniedziałku upłynie 12 dni (do piątku wypłaty).

disagree  Hanna Burdon: Właśnie nie za poprzedni, tylko za tydzień poprzedzający poprzedni, co wynika z cytatów...

  -> W piątek jest wypłata za poprzedni tydzień - proszę przeanalizować cytaty, np. "you receive the previous week's wages each week" - czyli za tydzień poprzedzający bieżący (mniej więcej ten sam sens, co w popartej odpowiedzi, ale zgrabniej).
