French to English Medical Medical: Instruments physical therapy
In the list of discharge treatment and prescriptions, I find this from a French hospital for a patient without much mobility in the legs:

Mobilisation autorisée avec corset pour aller sur le motobar

My research overwhelmingly turns up bars (for drinking) or motor cycle parts, etc. In the abstract of a German article about therapy for the knee, I found a phrase about passive therapy on a 'motor bar'. Is anyone familiar with this? I only find one reference.

neither seen nor heard Indeed, a motobar in French sounds like somewhere I might go on my Harley Davidson lol. I'm thinking maybe parallel bars. To use a generic term, "gait trainer" would probably work. This is pretty obviously what is going on, since it is done "avec corset".

What causes the impaired mobility in this patient? A stroke, corrective spinal chord surgery, knee or hip replacement surgery, cerebral palsy? Why would this patient have to wear a corset to walk on a "motobar"? Does the patient have to do "gait training" as SJLD suggests here, or is the contraption simply prescribed to assist this patient in moving about? Answers to these questions should point you in the right direction as to whether this patient requires a gait trainer or a wheeled walker.
Note from asker:
In a related letter, a different doctor in the same department writing about the same patient uses 'déambulateur à roues'. My question to you is: have you ever actually heard/seen the term 'motobar' or is this an educated guess? My impression would be that it was somehow motorized.
