There is not much more context, hence my problem. I came up with the same google hits that David did. The table lists the steps in the SOP for preparation of a stock solutions of a liquid. This is in the step for "Rohstoffe mittles Waage WI 173136 einwiegen" and lists 2 different "Eichstein Nr." and the expected weight in g.

Calibration stone: Looks as though it may be used to calbrate measurements of refractive index (e.g. honey) or the specific gravity of heavy liquids:

"Further to this original inquiry, for the RHB-90 ATC is the little calibration stone used with the or without the calibration fluid? According to the directions, I think you are supposed to set the refractometer so that the boundary between the blue and the white is at Brix 78.78
Also, how are you supposed to clean the unit after you have smeared it with honey?
Assistance will be most greatfully appreciated.

"Since evaporation, temperatures and light conditions may effect the SG of the liquids, it is recommended to have calibration stones at hand so one can periodically adjust the solutions. Changes in temperatures especially can highly influence the calibration. If the calibration stone suspends in the liquid it will be up-to-date, otherwise one should adjust the solution.
Generally, one calibrates a heavy liquid by dropping a calibration stone slowly into a liquid and diluting it drop by drop until the stone of known SG suspends in it."

really need more context as everyone says :)
Trudy Peters Jun 30, 2011:
What is the procedure? Can you provide the whole sentence where it appears or some other context?
David Tracey, PhD Jun 30, 2011:
Should mean 'calibration stone' or 'calibrating stone' since 'eichen' is to calibrate - but I can't find a reference to on Google.
