A čo je ešte lepšie, pastevný tlak neustal ani po príchode človeka a vybití pôvodných druhov bylinožravcov. Ich úlohu v plnej miere prebrali stáda domestikovaného dobytka. Neolitický roľník namiesto toho aby pretváral lesnú krajinu, len využíval potenciál krajiny, ktorú pred ním formovala príroda. Celkom automaticky a neúmyselne tak udržiaval prirodzený charakter krajiny.
