Thermal wheel is a heat transfer device with a rotating wheel, which allows the sensible heat transfer between the fresh air intake and exhaust air in an AC system. The air duct connections are arranged so that each of the airstreams flow axially through approximately one half of the wheel in a counter-flow pattern. The porous media that is heated from the warm duct airstream, rotates into the cold duct airstream where sensible heat is released.

dispozitiv rotativ (roata) pentru recuperare de energie
"heat wheel', although largely used in the HVAC industry, is the improper denomination for an equipment that recovers humidity, ergo enthaply, ergo energy. It is considered technical slang and used as is, but do not try to translate it 'word by word'. When translating this kind of wording in technical slang one needs to go back to the very thermodynamic principle that the "heat wheel" addresses, which is in fact, the (latent) energy transfer.

Roata pentru recuperare de energie este un dispozitiv de recuperare a caldurii avand in componenta o roata ce se invarte in jurul axului si care permite transferul caldurii sensibile inspre curentul de aer proaspat dinspre curentul de aer evacuat. Punctele de racord ale tubulaturilor de aer sunt astfel pozitionate incat fiecare dintre cei doi curenti de aer curg in lungul axului rotii, in contracurent, fiecare prin aproxiamtiv jumatate din suprafata rotii. Mediul poros care este incalzit de catre curentul de aer clad se roteste in curentul de aer rece unde elibereaza caldura sensibila.

Given that the transfer of enthalpy from one airstrem to the other is being done in order to spare latent energy required for treating the incoming fresh air, the 'heat wheel' is also called 'energy transfer wheel', which in Romanian is 'dispozitiv rotativ pentru recuperare de energie'.

Roata termală este un dispozitiv cu o roată rotativă care permite un transfer sensibil între cantitatea de aer care intră şi iese din sistemul de aer condiţionat. Conexiunile conductelor de aer sunt astfel distribuite încît fiecare jet de aer să curgă axial prin aproximativ o jumătate din roată într-un sens contra-curent. Suportul poros care este încălzit de conductele de aer cald, se roteşte in conducta de aer rece unde se degajă căldură sensibilă.
