French term

respect des interlignes coxo-fémoraux

French to English Medical Medical (general)
This appears in a medical report concerning a patient with a fracture of the ischiopubic ramus. My question relates to the meaning of "respect des" here, not the "interlignes coxo-femoraux", which I have translated as "coxofemoral space". It appears as follows:

"Fracture non déplacée de la branche ischio-pubienne gauche.
**Respect des** interlignes coxo-fémoraux."

Does this simply mean that the fracture affects the coxofemoral space? Thanks in advance :)

no loss/disruption of hip joint space

The "interligne coxo-fémoral" is the space between the head of the femur and the acetabulum.

In other words, the hip joint space is normal.

I would not use "coxofemoral".

"respect de..." usually means "not affected"

see "interligne articulaire" = "joint space"

coxofemoral joint lines unaffected

I have a feeling that the writer is stating that the physiological lines of the joints have been kept intact (respected) despite the fracture.
