am Band und frei fallend I'm not sure "am Band" has anything to do with conveyor belts, because the next sentence reads: "B�nder und Halbzeuge werden mit Breiten bis 200mm und 0,06 bis 2mm Dicke verarbeitet.

more context is needed, but...
the colloquial meaning of "etwas am Band machen" refers to doing something continuously. Could it mean they produce "Stanzteile" [stamped metal parts] as standard parts as well as special order???? Where does the text originate from? Germany, Austria or Switzerland? It doesn't sound like "German-German"
