French term

eau désaltérante

French to English Other Cosmetics, Beauty salon facial treatments
To make an exfoliating facial mask, beauticians are instructed to mix the mask powder with ordinary warm water and "eau désaltérante". Has anyone got any idea what this is? Many thanks

answer sorry, by "proper answer" I meant an answer with the box underneath to award points...
Susan Gastaldi (asker) Dec 28, 2008:
points Julie, I would have liked to give you the points since you were the first to propose the best answer (hydrating water) but I don't know how to give points when you don't have a proper answer - sorry. Have a Happy New Year instead!
Susan Gastaldi (asker) Dec 23, 2008:
Thanks for now. Maybe someone will come up with a direct translation!

couple of suggestions after looking around a bit more on the net, the 2 best options I could see were mineral water, as per my initial suggestion, or a cosmetic hydrating water

hydration water

rose/orange water or distilled water.

When I did my beauty therapy course we used rose water or orange water to mix with the powder to make face masks. These waters are slightly scented and less acidic than tap water. Distilled water could be used if the client has sensitive skin.
Needless to say, the quality of tap water varies from area to area. The therapist would chose a suitable water for the mixture taking in to consideration her tap water supply and her client's skin type.

toning water
